In California, it is illegal to get food stamps or EBT card if you have Supplemental Security Income (SSI). There are panhandlers at shopping center that are begging to get food since they are not allowed to have EBT cards or food stamps. Another thing with SSI, you cannot have more than what income allowed on SSI. Anything over is 100% deductible. If you have bank account and make any deposit of other source or if your asset is over $2000, you get called in to to Social Security office and more likely they'll steal any other income or if over $2000.That happened to me in pass. SSI is not same as Social Security benefits.
